Background

The HP Elite Dragonfly G2, unveiled at CES 2020 and released in mid-2020, is the successor to the original HP Elite Dragonfly. As part of HP's EliteBook series, it emphasizes portability and performance for business users.

Weighing as little as 2.2 lbs, the Dragonfly G2 features a magnesium alloy chassis in Dragonfly Blue and a 13.3" touchscreen with display options such as UHD resolution or a 1000-nit Sure View Reflect screen for privacy.

It offers up to an Intel Core i7 vPro processor, 32GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 2TB of SSD storage. Optional features include 5G connectivity and a built-in Tile tracker to help locate the device if misplaced.

The Dragonfly G2 is equipped with a 56.2Wh battery that provides reliable battery life, typically lasting 6 to 10 hours under standard usage. It supports fast charging, reaching 50% in 30 minutes, with the included 65W USB-C power adapter. A full charge generally takes 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on usage during charging.

For connectivity, it includes 2 Thunderbolt (USB Type-C) ports, 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1, a headphone jack, 1 HDMI 1.4, and a Nano SIM slot for WWAN. The device also supports Wi-Fi 6 and optional 5G for fast, reliable internet access.

Security features include HP Sure Start, HP Sure Sense, a 720p HD webcam with IR support, a fingerprint reader, and a physical camera shutter.

HP has also integrated ocean-bound plastics into select components, such as the speaker enclosure and parts of the laptop's body, as part of its sustainability efforts. Its predecessor was the first notebook to include ocean-bound materials.

The Dragonfly G2 retailed between $1,500 and $2,500, depending on the configuration.

This device is well-suited for business professionals, particularly those who travel frequently or need a lightweight yet powerful laptop for presentations, remote work, or meetings.

The device was discontinued sometime in 2023, making way for newer models such as the Dragonfly G3 and the G4.
