Background
The Ridgid Nailer R250SFE is a 16 gauge pneumatic nailer designed for at home or professional use. This nailer was released in 2018 by the tool company Ridgid and sold exclusively by Home Depot. It has since been discontinued and replaced by the Ridgid Nailer R250SFF which added a better handle design, an aggressive toe-nailing claw that reduces slipping, and a atheistic design change. Replacement parts for this nailer are still available through Ridgid or external sources. Prices for this nailer can range from $60.00 to over $260.00. They are available to buy used or refurbished. Customer reviews have been mostly positive for this nailer.
The Ridgid Nailer R250SFE comes with a host of beneficial features. Some of these features include:
- Actuation Mode Selector: allows mode to be changed for either higher productivity or precise nail placement
- Rotatable Belt Hook: allows the nailer to be clipped to a belt at different angles
- Depth of Drive Adjustment: allows operator to select driving depth
- Dry-Fire Lockout: prevents tool from firing when nails are low in the magazine
- In-Handle Air Filter: self-cleaning air filter that helps keep debris out
- Jam Release: provides ease in clearing jams
- Muffler: reduces noise during operation
- No-Mar Pad: prevents marring and denting of softer woods
- Oil-Free Design: prevents daily oiling
- Reload Indicator: shows when magazine is running low
- Rear Loading Magazine: allows for easier loading of nails
The Ridgid Nailer R250SFE is part of a family a nailers sold by Ridgid. Along with this 16 gauge nailer, Ridgid also offers a 15 gauge angled nailer, an 18 gauge brad nailer, a 3-1/2 in. palm nailer, a round-head framing nailer, and a coil roofing nailer.
There have been no safety recalls for this specific model of nailer but it does have a few common problems that can prevent proper use. These problems include leaking air from the top or trigger, the nailer not firing, the driver not returning to proper position, the nailer not sinking the nails in far enough, and nails not feeding into the nailer. Most of these problems are a result of a faulty gasket that is allowing air out and not allowing the nailer to be properly pressurized.

Identification
The Ridgid Nailer R250SFE has a primarily orange plastic body with a gray rubber handle grip and black nail magazine and nose. The square Ridgid logo can be found above the handle on the body of the nailer. The air compressor connector can be found at the bottom of the handle. The device information, including model number, can be found on the back of the nail magazine facing the handle. The main differences between this model (R250SFE) and the newer model (R250SFF) are the size and style of the Ridgid logo and handle. The R250SFE model is slightly bigger (dimensions provided below) and has a square logo design that only takes up half the body. The new model (R250SFF) has a larger logo design that spans the whole body and the rubber grip is segmented on the handle.
