Background

The Sony Cyber-shot S series cameras were consumer-level Cyber-shot cameras first introduced in 2000 with the DSC-S30. This series of Cyber-shot cameras continued until 2011 when Sony released the camera in the series, the DSC-S3000.

Identification

The model will usually be printed somewhere on the body, otherwise it can be located on the label on the bottom of the camera. The model name will contain the prefix "DSC" (standing for digital still camera). The model will then contain the letter 'S' followed by the model number (for example, DSC-S650).
