Introduction

This guide will demonstrate replacing an LED dome light for a 2006-2014 GMC Yukon. The dome light turns on when you open the door or you can turn it on while driving or in park if you need an overhead light and it's dark. Although the repair is demonstrated on a GMC Yukon 2012, you can follow the same procedure for other cars in the first generation.

Before beginning the repair, make sure your car is off and in park. If you have used the dome light recently, make sure it has cooled off before beginning the repair as it can heat up and there is a potential to burn your fingers when replacing the bulb. No special skills are needed.

    • To remove the LED light, use a prying tool to hook the top edge of the LED and pull it down slowly, another option is to pull it down from the glass piece.

    • Insert the new LED light where the old one used to be.

    • Make sure that the copper components of the LED are aligned with the copper hooks that will keep the LED in place.
