Introduction

Use this guide to replace a damaged side view mirror on a second-generation Kia Soul (model years 2014 to 2019).

Side-view mirrors are essential to keeping everyone on the road safe. Side view mirrors allow drivers to see vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians behind and beside them, allowing them to make sure that everyone is safe when changing lanes or parking. Having a broken or damaged side view mirror not only endangers the vehicle's driver but also those who share the road. This guide provides simple and clear instructions, enabling anyone, regardless of their experience with car part replacements, to safely and successfully replace the side view mirror of a 2014-2019 Kia Soul.

Make sure you have a strong grip on the side view mirror before completing step 4 of this guide, as the bolt pictured in step 4 is what keeps the side view mirror mounted. Should the side view mirror fall, the glass could break and lead to injuries.

Before you begin the repair, make sure your car is off and in park.

    • When working on this step, hold onto the side mirror to prevent it from falling. It may be helpful to have someone assist you during this step.

    • Use needle nose pliers to grip the grommet (plastic anchor around the screw) and guide it through the hole to detach the side mirror from the car.

    • Make sure to clamp all four sides of the grommet simultaneously to guide it through the opening. Do not turn or remove the screw during this process.
