Introduction

The clockspring is a plastic circuit in a vehicle's steering mechanism that connects the steering column to the steering wheel without breaking the electrical connection when it rotates.

When the clockspring fails, the steering wheel loses its electrical connection, and its buttons, horn, and other features stop working. This guide will help you replace the clockspring and restore the functionality of the steering wheel buttons in a 2014 Ford F150 Lariat pickup truck.

Before beginning this procedure, place your vehicle in park, engage the parking brake, and power off the ignition.
