Introduction

Blown fuses, while not the most common vehicle issue, can be quite the headache to have to deal with. This issue causes important functions of the dashboard and car's interior to fail, leading to a potentially frustrating and even unsafe driving experience.

Thankfully, replacing these fuses is much less intimidating and difficult than it might seem!

All you'll need is something to pull the fuses out of the fuse box with, such as long-nose pliers or a fuse puller. There is a fuse puller provided in the cover of the engine compartment fuse box, which also often holds spare fuses which you will need for this repair. You will also need a fuse tester.

    • Align the holes located on the top of the fuse with the prongs on the fuse tester.

    • Press the prongs into the holes gently, making sure the prongs make contact with the metal at the bottom of the holes.

    • If the light glows green, the fuse is in working condition, if not, move forward with this guide.

    • If the light does glow, the fuse is likely not the cause of the issue you are having, you may be better off trying a different solution.

    • Gently push the fuse into the slot left by the fuse that was removed, there should be relatively minimal resistance when pushing it in.

    • Use your finger to apply moderate pressure until the top of the fuse aligns with the other fuses.

    • Press the cover in and back into place, it should be flush with its surroundings.
