Introduction
If the food processor motor is spinning freely, one of the couplers on the universal bowl may also be broken. Unfortunately, the bowl is no longer produced and the couplers is not available as a spare part. One possibility is to get a used bowl. Another option is to create and replace the respective coupler with a 3D printer. This is shown here.
- You will find the files for the upper coupler here.
- You will find the files for the lower coupler here.
Tools
-
-
Turn the universal bowl over so that the base is facing upwards.
-
The crack in the coupler is clearly visible. The coupler is therefore slipping in the bowl.
-
-
-
Carefully lift the coupler off the axle using a strong flat-blade screwdriver. Reposition it several times so that it does not jam.
-
-
-
Create a new lower coupler with the 3D printer. Print out the two press-fit tools (Picture 2) at the same time.
-
Lightly grease the axle with food-safe silicone grease and push it in.
-
Fit the new coupler.
-
Place the two press-fit tools (or a suitable piece of wood) on the top and bottom and press the driver tight with a screw clamp. It must still have a very slight amount of play so that the shaft can still rotate easily.
-
-
-
The upper coupler can also crack, in which case the shaft will spin. You can create and replace the upper coupler with a 3D printer.
-
Pull the upper coupler off the axle.
-
Also print out the two press-fit tools from the file for the lower driver.
-
-
-
You will also need the two press-fit tools from the file for the lower coupler.
-
Place the lower driver with the shaft on the short press-fit tool. A metal washer sits on the coupler between it and the mixing bowl. Lightly grease the shaft with food-safe grease and insert everything into the mixing bowl.
-
Place the flat plastic washer, the black plastic washer and the metal washer on the upper end of the shaft. Then fit the new driver and the long press-fit tool. Press the new driver in a few millimeters with a little force, possibly also very carefully with small hammer blows.
-
Place the screw clamp on the coupler and press in the coupler. It must still have a very slight amount of play so that the shaft can still rotate easily.
-
Work through the steps in reverse order to reassemble your device.
