Introduction

Hello everyone, in this guide Ill be showing you how to open the laptop in order to change the thermal paste.

    • Use a prying tool to remove the top panel.

    • This will reveal 2 screws that hold the keyboard in place, remove them.

    • After that - carefully unplug the keyboard and set it aside.

    • Unscrew the 4 screws that hold the CPU heatsink in place.

    • Unscrew the LCD grounding screw and set aside the antenna cables.

    • Clean the old thermal paste both from the cooler and the CPU. It is best to use isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs or paper towel, but be careful not to go too hard on the CPU.

    • Don`t use too much thermal paste, just enough to cover some portion of the pad. If you have a spreader, use it. The thermal paste will apply evenly after you tighten the heatsink.

    • Put the heatsink back carefully and tighten the screws in order 1 -> 4 to ensure even pressure.

    • Last, put the display grounding screw back and the antenna cables back where they were and reassemble.
