Introduction

There's nothing quite like a favorite T-shirt. Whether it's a cherished band logo or a stunning graphic design, our shirts crack over time.

If this has happened to your shirt, follow this guide to restore the print. This guide will walk you through a repair method to fix the print.

The repair requires the use of acetone and the smell can irritate your eyes, nose, and throat so work in a well-ventilated area. In addition, don't inhale or ingest acetone as it is toxic.

    • Lay your shirt on a flat surface.

    • Use scissors to cut a piece of parchment paper the same size as the design on your shirt.

    • Insert the piece of parchment paper inside of the shirt and under the design.

    • This is to prevent the acetone from staining.

    • Dampen a cotton ball with the acetone.

    • Gently dab the cotton ball onto the cracked area of the shirt and hold it in place for 1 minute.

    • Remember to always dab, do not rub.

    • Repeat this over the whole area that you wish to restore.

    • Let your shirt set for 3-5 minutes

    • If you're doing a small area, let it set for 2-3 minutes. If it is any bigger, set it for 5 minutes.

    • Cut a piece of parchment paper to match the size of the shirt's design, then place it over the design.

    • Turn on a clothes iron to the highest heat setting with NO steam.

    • Be careful when handling the iron, it gets burning hot!

    • When your iron is ready, place it over the parchment paper and go over the whole design once.

    • Go over the areas that had the cracks for at least 10-15 seconds.
