Introduction

The keyboard is a key component to any computer. It is the place where you mix the electronics and the inputs from typing. It is the place where you tell the computer what to do. This guide will show you how to remove the Lenovo Thinkpad T430 keyboard to be able to replace it.

    • Remove the two screws in the middle panel using a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

T430s seem to vary in configuration as to how the keyboard is attached by "screws". Mine has only two (long) threaded "screws" -- more like tiny bolts: one next to the yellow lithium battery and one in that same enclosed space, but diagonally to the right and closer to the battery.

    • Flip the laptop over and open the lid.

    • Push the keyboard forward from the space bar while applying pressure to lift up the keyboard.

    • Carefully unplug and disconnect the ribbon cable.

    • Pulling too hard on the ribbon cable may cause damage to the device. Make sure to disconnect the ribbon cable before completely removing the keyboard.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
