Introduction
This guide describes how to replace a RAM stick in a MSI Katana 15 B13VEK.
Memory usage in a computer is the backbone for each function a computer provides the user. Memory is needed so that data and instructions are stored so that the processor can access them quickly.
This fix may be needed if the memory slot in your computer is not being utilized. Laptops with decreased memory can slow the laptop's overall performance, and even result in the computer being unusable.
Before you begin the fix, it is important to know a few facts. Be sure to use the correct GB size according to your computer. With the MSI Katana 15 B13VEK, this system will support 16GB in total memory usage. If you over supply the computer with memory, the computer may degrade over time faster, and not perform as well as to be expected.
Finally, you will be unable to tell which memory slot needs to be replaced. With this, you may need to restart the fix if you replace the wrong one.

Flip the laptop over so the screen is face down with the hinges facing away from you.

Remove the thirteen 12.7 mm screws from the bottom cover of the laptop using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Locate the existing RAM memory slot flap and gently pull apart the clamps holding the RAM in place.

Once the clamps have been pulled apart, remove the existing faulty RAM and set aside from the exposed laptop.

Insert the new RAM stick with the label facing down and the colored side going into the crease of the flap.

Do steps 4-1 in reverse to put the laptop back together.

Test the new RAM stick by turning on the computer and going to task manager. Then click performance on the left-hand option menu. Check to see if the memory usage is about 16 GB.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. If there is no improvement in the laptop's memory, restart the process, exchanging the other memory stick.
