Introduction
If your ice bucket (aka ice tray, ice bin, or ice tub) is cracked, use this guide to replace it.
The ice bucket stores ice cubes for dispensing. The bucket assembly often includes an auger and a dispenser flap. It does not include the auger motor or dispenser actuator. If your fridge doesn't dispense ice, you may need to defrost this bucket.
This guide will work for with many refrigerator models. The photos in this guide are from a Samsung RFG298HDRS refrigerator. If you have a different model, you may encounter some minor disassembly differences, but the overall repair process will be the same.
Parts
-
-
Pull the ice bucket out of the ice maker room.
-
Check for cracks or fractures in the ice bucket and auger assembly.
-
Check the gasket on the back of the faceplate of the ice bucket and auger assembly. If the gasket's ripped, cracked, rolled or has become too rigid, the bucket won't seal properly, and may ice up. Replace the bucket as needed.

The arrows indicate where to look for the gasket.
-
Check the sealing rim around the edge of the ice room opening for ice or cracking.
-
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
