Hello there! I'm Michael Tucker, a senior student at the University of Delaware with a major in Business Management, and minors in Writing as well as Professional Selling and Sales Management.
I was born and (mostly) raised outside of Wilmington, Delaware my whole life, so UD was a pretty natural fit for me. Business has played a pretty significant role in my upbringing, as my parents started their own business a little over a decade ago that's still going strong. With my major (and minors) I hope to achieve applicable expertise in managing and leading a business, with the end goal to own one myself in the future. The minor in Sales was intended to truly round out that business education into something even more valuable, whereas the Writing minor was more an exploration of an old passion of mine.
I am a proud owner of three lovable dogs, and hold a job on my spare days as a sidewalk repair technician for my family's business, for which I fix sidewalk trip hazards. Outside of school, I try to stay involved and active, whether through personal hobbies of mine or organized ones. Reading is far and away my biggest hobby but on the more active side, I participate in a couple of volleyball leagues and coach my local swim team in the summers (led 'em to an undefeated season). My family has always been big on travel, and we often take trips over spring and summer breaks, one of our most recent ones to Europe. Travel is a wonderful opportunity to experience new sights and places, and I value the time with my family.
More than any career aspiration, I hope to achieve a place in life that enables me to help others and make a meaningful impact on others' lives, however that may be accomplished.
I'm rather new to the field of personal repair, with some limited experience here and there but I see iFixit as a wonderful opportunity to expand my knowledge and get real hands-on involvement that may help others in need. My biggest experience with repair comes from my job, working with sidewalks through the use of an angle grinder to remove hazards, but that doesn't apply too much to what iFixit is striving for. As an owner of a device I plan to create repair guides for (an air fryer), this experience will also prove very beneficial as a means to attain working knowledge of an everyday appliance.
