Hello, my name is Blake and this is a little bit about me. I love to read, listen to music, and just have a good time with good friends. I also love to travel and see new places. While I have not yet had the opportunity to leave the country, I have been to every state south of Iowa. When I am not at work or school, I have a dog who gets all of my attention. She is way too spoiled and hyper, but is also perfect in every way. I am an active member of a local disc golf group; this has quickly become something I look forward to weekly as it allows me to spend time with good people and have some friendly competition at the same time.
I graduate from Sam Houston State University in May of 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a minor in forensics. I have been on the dean’s list multiple times throughout my college career and have maintained a high GPA. Every class is faced with dedication and an eagerness to learn; the habits developed in the classroom have also helped me become a more efficient worker, eventually culminating in a promotion to shift lead at my current job at WingStop. I plan to use skills obtained through my educational experiences and my time at WingStop, such as my communication, time management, and information retention skills, to become a police officer and eventually become a federal agent.
I have quite a bit of experience working on different repairs and adjustments, particularly regarding woodwork. I took 4 years of woodshop in high school and helped my uncle with his woodworking business. My favorite piece I made is an oak chest I made; it required an intense focus on the smaller, finer details, but it was worth all the hard work when I was finally able to gift it to my mother. I also made a desk for my father and a bench for my sister that I am very proud of, but they were earlier projects and did not come out at the same level of detail and craftsmanship the chest did. While not the same, the project I am working on has a lot of similar aspects to woodworking, so I look forward to sharing a little bit of my own knowledge with those who will find it useful.
