Hey! I’m Keely Hunt, a current junior at the University of California, Davis double majoring in communications and design. I want to pursue a career in graphic design and marketing in the fashion or sports industries after my undergrad. I love anything to do with design, however I have little experience in repairs. My mom is super handy around the house so I have watched her repair sprinkler systems, and sinks and remove stains from anything. Everything I know about repairs I have learned from her.

Most repairs I have completed are clothing-focused, fixing holes or buttons or removing stains but I would love to get more experience with complex repairs. Being able to resew clothing or upcycle clothing has always been a goal of mine, especially because this can increase my daily sustainability. Fast fashion is one of the most harmful avenues for the environment and I would love to get more involved with finding more sustainable fashion practices. In my spare time, I love to travel, hang out with my friends and family, go to sporting events, and work out.

Through this project, I would love to connect with more of my classmates as well as help a greater community. I’m super excited to delve deeper into figuring out how to repair a product and give myself the confidence to complete more repairs in the future.

I’m currently a member of the Neural Networking Association at UC Davis as part of their design team. I help the club promote itself on social media and design with startup companies. I am also a member of the Pi Beta Phi fraternity, helping to run social media and participating in philanthropy events to raise money for children’s literacy programs.

These photos are from my travels abroad this past summer. I studied in Rome before traveling to Paris and Greece. I loved getting to immerse myself in different cultures and meet so many amazing people. My experience abroad has given me the confidence to try anything, including becoming better at repairs. I can bring a unique outlook and flourish to anything I create.

Beaches are my favorite place to be and someday I am going to retire in a beach town and run a coffee shop.
