Good day. My name is Lucas, and I'm an IT majoring freshman at UNT. I hope to work in the IT profession in the future, at least I would like to be working with computers and networking. I can listen, think critically. I know and can use a computer as if it were an extension of myself. I've done troubleshooting on computers and their peripherals too many times to count.
Repairs
I've taken apart and cleaned many of my electronics, done some repair work. Off the top of my head:
- Redone the caps in the power supply of one of my old Macintosh desktops. (Picture pending)
- Done a last ditch fix on the cracking bezel of an old laptop.
- Replaced my main laptop's screen.
- Thoroughly cleaned and greased a few floppy drives, however useful that may be today.
- Replaced the rubber belts in several belt-driven personal electronics.
- Replaced spark plugs, air filters, car batteries.
I'd like to learn how to work on mini electronics like phones and tablets. That ultra-precision work I'm not fitted to do.
Groups and Hobbies
I don't belong to many formally named/organized groups. I do have a D&D club I meet with on weekends. I'm a part of the computer enthusiast collective, you could say.
For hobbies, I tend to try and find things to fix as a hobby. I almost always have a few projects in various states of completion. For example, I have an old iPod Classic waiting in the wings while I set enough funds aside for a storage replacement. My other hobbies include thrifting, very amateur photography, off-and-on again pencil sketching, and messing around with my PC.
Other Facts
I can make some funny faces, and do some funny voices. I know many song lyrics, who knows how detrimental that is for me remembering other things. I like hip-hop, rock, pop. But mostly old stuff. I have tentatively tried to expand my tastes to stuff post-2010, results are ongoing. I am a Cowboys fan only because I am from Dallas, I am sorry to say. Last I knew, we were doing pretty good. I game. I'm a gamer. I tend to stick to Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod/Zombie Survival.
