Hello! My name is Salimah Rogers. I attend UC Davis, and I'm double majoring in Cognitive Science (Computational Emphasis) and Design (Graphics). I chose the first major because I'm fascinated with the mind and its interdisciplinary approach, and I'm learning more than one topic. I aspire to enter the video game industry and eventually become a Game Designer. Skills that I can share with a future employer are quick learning, adaptation, inquisitiveness, passion, tech savviness, and my academic background. I've had experience making short games for game jams, creating graphic design and drawing projects involving more advanced methods, and completing video games, all of which are among the accomplishments I'm personally proud of. I've fixed things, such as software issues on my computer, accessories like jewelry, and my old fan. I would like to learn how to repair more complex things like PCs (hardware), handiwork, broken trinkets, holes in clothing, and as many others as possible. The awards I've received have been for my academic achievements for the most part, but it would be nice to have the same in other areas in the future. At UC Davis, I'm primarily part of the Game Dev and Arts Club, though I keep up with news in other clubs such as the Dungeons & Dragons Club and the Cognitive Science Club. In my spare time, I play video games, draw, read, watch movies, shows, and anime, and play D&D with my close friends. My upcoming project here will strengthen my ability to think outside the box and strategically while widening my skill set as I learn new things. I have three pets at home: two Yorkies and my childhood pug. I'm also a sucker for steak and fries. I have perfect pitch and can play the flute, and I have a knack for remembering numbers extremely well. My favorite artist is Lana Del Rey, my favorite childhood books are the A Series of Unfortunate Events series, and I love aesthetics such as gothic, mystery, fantasy, and dark humor.
