Hello there, I am Darius. I am an undergraduate student at the University of California, Davis studying Computer Engineering.
Growing up in a family of handymen, I have always had an interest in tinkering. As I got older, I narrowed down this interest into tinkering and specifically repairing computers, consoles, and phones for fun. My end goal is to become an repair technician, specifically on the micro level with soldering and hot air rework.
Currently, I have been working on my technical skills relating to soldering and hot air rework. I bought my own equipment and would buy broken electronics off of sites like Facebook Marketplace and Offerup to repair and learn new things. With electronic repair, there is always something new to learn and I aspire to be able to circuitry enough to install my own modifications to already existing electronics.
Some of my proudest accomplishments include installing Carplay into my Lexus car, modifying my Nintendo 3DS and TI-84 Plus CE calculator to support USB-C charging, and running a MrCool minisplit air conditioning system in my house. Repairing and technology is something I am very passionate about and I am excited to continue down this path with iFixit.
