Hi, I’m Derreck Soriano, and I’m currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering at Cal State LA. I chose this major because I’ve always been fascinated by how technology works and the endless possibilities it brings to solving real-world problems. My dream is to be part of a team that designs innovative solutions that impact everyday life, whether it’s through developing new electronic devices or advancing renewable energy technologies.
When it comes to skills, I’m proficient in programming, circuit design, and using simulation software like KiCAD. One of the projects I’m proud of is where me and a group of four other created an interactive book. This book had electrical components like lights and sounds that were activated through buttons. In my spare time, I love cooking it’s a great way to unwind and get creative outside of the classroom. Soccer is another passion of mine, whether I’m playing on the field or watching a match with friends. Soccer teaches me the importance of teamwork and strategy, values I carry into my academic and professional pursuits. This project is an opportunity for me to grow both professionally and personally. I see it as a chance to apply my engineering knowledge in a practical way while developing skills that will benefit my career and my involvement in the repair community.
