My name is Yanelly Cardenas, and I am currently enrolled at Cuesta College. I am planning on going into engineering because there are a lot of exciting career paths. Around campus I am involved with STEM Club.
I don't have much experience with repairing and taking stuff apart except for in middle school when I had to disassemble a desktop computer and put it back together. I would like to learn how to repair devices such as phones and computers in the future.
In my spare time I like to listen to music and watercolor. I have two dogs that I take on walks and go to the park with. I also love to do ceramics/pottery.
I got involved with iFixit by working on a standard technical writing project, which was something that was introduced in my intro to engineering class. I am excited to be a small part of this organization's mission to inspire and empower others to repair their own devices and reduce waste by doing so. Since I don't have a lot of repair experience, I think this project will be really useful to me in the future, if I ever run into any problems (especially with printers). Fixing something on my own seems scary because I would be afraid of making a problem worse or making something stop working completely, but I am hoping to gain more confidence with this project.
