Hi! I'm Ben, a sophomore at UC Davis majoring in geology, and I'm excited to learn to fix stuff. I've learned everything I know about fixing things from my dad. At home in our garage he has this massive wall of tools that he taught me and my brother to use. He would put us to work doing things with wood like repairing doors and fences. I have experience repairing wooden structures as well as some computer parts.
The photo included is a picture that I took while learning to build the lofted bedframe that I currently sleep on. My first project here on Ifixit is looking like it's going to be repairing a textile on a jacket. I've never done that before but I'm excited to learn to utilize a method of repair I'm unfamiliar with. Maybe I can use this knowledge to patch holes in clothes in the future.
