Introduction

This is an easy step-by-step guide on how to repair a hole in a duvet insert. Through this guide, you will use a patch of scrap fabric to repair the hole in order to achieve the most secure repair possible on a very frequently used item. Though there is no specfic way that a hole might appear in a duvet cover, it can often causes problems with leaking feathers or enlarge even more if not repaired. When following this tutoiral, it will be beneifical to have proir knowledge on how to thread a needle and a general knowledge on how to sew. Though the stitches do not have to be pretty or very even, it will be easier to understand the process of the repair with such knowledge. Have fun fixing!

    • Remove the duvet cover from the insert and locate the hole.

    • Cut a piece of scrap fabric slightly larger than the hole.

    • Keep extra thread pulled through the needle to prevent it from unthreading. If it does, re-thread and continue.

    • Insert the needle in one of the corners of your patch, being sure to pierce through both the duvet insert and patch.

    • Continue stitching around the perimeter of the patch with stitches around 1/4 of an inch long until you have reached your previous starting point.

    • Sew around the hole's edges to secure the duvet insert into the patch to prevent future tearing.
