Introduction

If your Shark Apex DuoClean Powered Lift-Away (Model-AZ1002) is experiencing excessive or unusual noises or has low suction, there may be an object stuck in the HEPA filter. The HEPA filter is responsible for trapping harmful particles and ducts by filtering them through a layer of mesh. To clean the HEPA filter follow the steps of this repair guide. Everything listed in the steps is meant to be removed or opened for easy access. There won’t be any screws or special tools involved. The HEPA filter should be cleaned annually to ensure the vacuum runs as intented.

    • Pull on the lower lip to release the HEPA filter cover.

    • Pull the cover away from the vacuum, allowing the top of the cover to slide downward out of it's slot.

    • Use the center black plastic handle to pull the filter horizontally outward.

    • Rinse the filter under cold water to remove the dirt.

    • Allow filter to air-dry completely before reinstalling it in the vacuum.

    • If filter is not left to dry for long enough, lingering water in the filter can be dawn into electric parts of the vacuum.
